Y'all meet Gus...

Well we WERE down to one dog since Bella died over the summer. Little did I know that the ol lady had been looking at older rescue dogs at a no kill shelter in Macon. ( And I mean WAY down deep in Macon) I believe it's called All About Animals.
So today we/I spent MLK Day adopting Gus. We had to take our dog Lester down there with us to meet and greet. Basically had to make sure they got along. Let me tell y'all that Gus was about 25% bigger than I was expecting. Pretty damn close to a full size dog. What breed is he you ask? Damned if I know. So far he's really mellow. Now the cats here don't give a damn how mellow he is. They're all pissed at me right now.
Anyway he was at the shelter for over two years without being adopted. That's mainly why the ol lady was looking at him ( and a couple of others). So after all the preliminary stuff was done we loaded him AND Lester the Jack Russell in my Mom's Corolla and headed STRAIGHT home to Perry. I didn't NEED another dog (or cat) but I'm glad we helped Gus make parole after all that time. The ol lady keeps hugging and thanking me. I just laughed at how she's thanking me for some **** she was gonna do anyway. I tried to rename him Da'Marcus or Jamal since he DID come from Macon. But I was out voted. So Gus it is...

Good on you and her . Gus will give you years of love and protection hopefully. I’m sure he is grateful to be out of doggie prison , they never know what the hell is going on when they are taken there. I wish I had room for more myself ! They really deserve a chance at life in a decent home.

My wife said it had to stay Gus because of her favorite Lonesome Dove character. And yeah BTW he doesn't take a good pic.
