M1 Thompson SBR Questions

Anyone on here have a Thompson SBR? Either an M1 or 1927 version? I'm looking for advice on which SKU I should get for the M1. I've got a line on the "lightweight" version for $1200. It would need some modification to take USGI mags that I have. What have you done with yours to make it fit without making permanent modification? Who did you get your 10.5" barrel from?

In for answers. I was curious about SBRing one a long time ago but for some reason I decided not to pursue but cant remember why

I believe mags are modified by changing the shape of the hole larger and oval shape for the shape of the semi-auto catch. This can be done with a file or dremel.

As far as the barrel, If your starting using a 16" barrel can't you have it cut down, have a real smith that is a machinist - cut and remove the front sight lug from the cut portion and re-attach as a sleeve on the shortened barrel?
