  1. Turkeyed Out

Well, after three dismal seasons in a row, this one has been great. I got into my blind at 6:30, only to have a turkey gobbling at 6:40. I made a soft call and he triple gobbled. He continued to gobble for 20 minutes, when a hen walked into my little food plot on the edge of a clearcut. She fed...
  2. Nine hunts, one dead bird

I went to the woods last Wednesday evening and hunted every morning and evening until last night. That was nine consecutive hunts, and even a few days where I slipped back out at noon for a couple of hours. This bird was taunting me, by showing up on my game camera when I was not in the woods...
  3. Pond construction and maintenance

The wife and I are looking at having a small pond built on our farm. We have had a pond builder mark it off and should be about one acre in size, with a 20/25 foot buffer around it. They would have to clear about 1.5 acres of woods, which drives the price up, but it really is the ideal location...
  4. Christmas eve eve hunt

It is a beautiful 40 degree morning in Hancock. It has been deathly quiet, with not a breath of wind. No shooting, no machinery running, just very quiet. And, have seen a few deer.
  5. 12-1 hunt

Who's going this morning? Had a pretty sunrise, but rain is close by, which changed my plans. Opted to sit on the power line rather than the creek ladder stand. It's a long walk in the rain. Good lucks guys.
  6. 11-30

Sure is nice this evening. Have seen 14 so far. One buck hanging with a couple of does.
  7. Mulching vs Bulldozing for new roads

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I am looking to establish some new roads on our property. Most of it is old clearcut, with some being through big woods. I am open to the easiest path, so it doesn't matter if the road is a bit winding. I think it would be nice to have someone with a mulcher...
  8. Turkey Chokes

Well, with deer season coming to a close, it's time to start thinking about turkey season. I am looking to buy a new choke for my Winchester 1300, for a tighter pattern past 30/35 yards. I've had the gun for 30 years, and it likes Federal #5, 2 ounce loads. The barrel length is 22". So, what...
  9. 11/18 Deer Hunt

Brrrr, it's cold. Definitely a long undies morning. Good luck guys.
  10. 11/17 Deer Hunt

Anybody else hunting this morning? It is a cold in Hancock, but little to no wind. The deer are on their feet and active. Watched a really good fight between two 1.5 year old bucks, and let a nice 8 pointer walk. He will make some nice babies. Up to 16 does and 7 bucks. Got to go watch.
  11. '66 Riviera GS....What to do?

I went with my Dad, as a six year old kid, when he ordered and picked up this car. I also learned to drive in it. However, many years later, it is not in very good condition. It is a numbers matching car, with only 5817 produced in 1966, but it looks like the cost to fix it up, may be greater...
  12. Millenium M150 lock-on at Midway

Midway has the Millenium M150 on sale right now for $209.00, which is a very good price. The shipping starts out at about $30.00, but if you add $49.00 worth of other stuff, the shipping comes down to $10.00 for the entire order. Figured I would snag another one now, before the price goes up...

If there are any Marble/Granite fabricators on here, please PM me. I am closing the oldest fabrication shop in Atlanta, and have stuff that you might need/want. FREE remnants and CHEAP equipment. I didn't know where to post this, so I apologize if it is not in the right place.
  16. 10-2 Hunt... When the Deer Gods smile on you

Well, I have been hunting for a very long time (40 years), but Saturday evening was a memorable hunt, when everything went right. Every morning before going to the woods, I check the nightly activities on my Reveal cameras. Friday night was very active, with many does and a nice eight pointer...
  17. steering box leak

I've got a pretty healthy leak that has developed on my '76 TransAm. It appears that it is the back seal. Anyone ever replace that seal, or is that something to be left to a professional? I've been told that it should just be sent off to a steering box repair place. Doesn't really need a...
  18. Old Car Repair

I am in search of a repair shop/person that knows old cars, in particular Buicks and Pontiacs. Not looking for cheap, just honest. I just got royally screwed by a shop in Lilburn, so I am asking for actual experiences. I usually do my own work, but now that I am getting old, and don't have...
  19. Saving vintage paint

Does anyone have experience with making a 56 year old paint job look better? This is on a '65 Buick Riviera. There is some light surface rust, but not worried about that. I mainly want to even out the paint and make it shiny. Would like to find someone on the East side of town, that could at...
  20. Copperhead strike

This afternoon I was walking back to my house from my next door neighbor's house, when I noticed a tall weed growing from the front edge of my bushes/pine straw. I walked over, bent down, and grabbed the weed at the ground, and suddenly felt something hit my hand. At first I thought it might be...
