  1. Got any persimmon trees?

Thanks for the bump! I am still in the same situation. Haven't done any improvements to my TN land, and haven't installed any new persimmons. :-(
  2. Advice for food plot

We have had a soil analysis in many spots on the land. I'll have to check with my husband to see if he tested that exact area. We have 40 acres, and we had the Tennessee extension office do the testing. I think he sent in about 10 samples, and he wrote down which areas were sampled. I will...
  3. Advice for food plot

Thanks to you all! I appreciate the advice and will research these suggestions.
  4. Advice for food plot

Some time back (maybe 1 or 2 years ago), I read a lot of discussion about what to plant for food plots (for deer). I own property in Tennessee, and we have finally cleared and plowed lanes. Now we want to gather information about food plot planting. My husband wants to simply plant clover...
  5. Squirrel

I guess I deserved that! I am going to learn to spot your sarcasm earlier next time! I just read your signature line too. That should have been a clue! (but keep it coming. I do enjoy your comments.)
  6. Squirrel

Okay, so I can reduce my questions to these: Please rank said consumed rodents in order of enjoyment, and describe the circumstances leading up to the dispatching and consumption? I gotta admit, you got me curious when you said squirrel was your favorite rodent. For me, squirrel is the only...
  7. Squirrel

I have so many questions about this statement......
  8. Squirrel

Good for you! Them birdfeeder squirrels are nice and fat!
  9. Squirrel

If I remember correctly, I got about 1.25 cups of stewed meat per squirrel (picked off bone). Maybe 1 cup... Hard to tell and I was eyeballin'. But I was surprised. I did use the rib meat though. Most folks cut off the arms and legs, so they miss out on 1/4 to 1/3 cup of meat off the ribs.
  10. Squirrel

Crippen! Dude. How did it taste? I was killing them 2 years ago, because they were tearing up my bird feeders. I began feeling guilty, so now I eat them. I've even served them at the Church's wild game dinner. How did you like it? It's a bit gamey, but I made squirrel and dumplins the...
  11. Barter - your cleaned squirrels for a fresh baked item of your choice

I am in need of about 10 squirrels for my upcoming church's wild game dinner. Last year I was able to harvest about 18 of them over the few months coming into the dinner. This year I have 3. Yep, three. I guess I hunted them all out last year. If you were successful at hunting, cleaning and...
  12. Squirrel Hunt 1/11

Do it! It is very good. I made it for my church's wild game dinner. Everyone loved it.
  13. Squirrel Hunt 1/11

http://honest-food.net/hmong-squirrel-stew-recipe/ Seriously.....it was delicious. Especially if you like that spicy, Asian style of soups.
  14. Squirrel Hunt 1/11

I too hunt the squirrels for our church's "wild game dinner". Last year I made Squirrel and dumplin's, and a Hmoung soup (I think someone on this site posted that recipe). I think I'm going to do something different this year. I only have 2 right now. I need to put some more in the freezer...
  15. Squirrel Hunt 1/11

    You gonna eat that?
  16. I Want to go Quail hunting for the first time.

How much did you see for Etowah Valley, and what hours? I've never been either. I have shot clays on my property in TN though, and have plenty of shotgun options.
