  1. Scan Tool?

Cobalt. It wasn’t a great car
  2. Scan Tool?

Well, Also have a cobalt. That thing has been a PIA. Threw throttle body and throttle position sensor at it before we figured out it was really an ignition control module. Kind of a crappy car overall, but relatively cheap parts, so no huge deal. I haven’t really found a mechanic I like...
  3. Scan Tool?

Silverado, Camry, cruze I downloaded updates when I got the tool set up. Looks like it supports everything I can think of
  4. Scan Tool?

I fiddled around with it some today. Long enough to get a feel for its capabilities. You can track and graph up to 8 live data feeds. Can send that off to an email if you want. Can take screenshots easily. The system scan takes a little less time than blue driver, but goes into a lot more...
  5. Scan Tool?

Apologies. Sincerely. I shouldn’t paint with a broad brush. It is just that I get very frustrated when I get burned by the bad ones. Many, many (all) I have had experience with in this area have let me down. What used to be a skilled trade has turned into a real mess. As a guy...
  6. Scan Tool?

Ii got the x tool d8 coming I got a gift card for Christmas, coupled with the $100 off at Amazon. It looks to have tons of capabilities. Will do all kinds of stuff, like ABS module resets, full resets for climate stuff, TPMS stuff and even key fob programming I think it should cover...
  7. Scan Tool?

Looks like a nice tool, but I don't think Toyota is supported. That's mainly what I'm after
  8. Scan Tool?

Or I may try to find a Launch scan tool with similar capabilities. This D7 one has free updates for 3 years, and then updates cost $99 per year Launch comes with lifetime updates
  9. Scan Tool?

I have a blue driver. It is OK. But it won’t see a bunch of stuff like body modules and transmission codes and all. The ABS and other resets are beyond its capability as well. I’m leaning toward this thing: It looks like a lot of bang for the buck:
  10. Scan Tool?

  11. Brake rotor opinions

I’m doing brakes on my 2006 Camry. I usually do rotors at this mileage. And I usually do OEM. I got me OEM pads and shims ready. But none of the dealers have rotors in stock right now. (And Dam they are pricey) I’m wondering what y’all think of aftermarket rotors for something like this...
  12. 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody Edition Is Retro Perfection

Has Nissan done anything about those transmissions? Years of tranny issues with many models. Not as apocalyptic as Bud Light’s Tranny Model issues, but bad
  13. Electric cars

I would be much more interested in electric if charging weren’t such an issue If the super capacitor type battery breakthrough were to ever really happen, we would be in business! An electric car with a 15 min charge cycle would be something I would be interested in
  14. Engine & Transmission on a 2002 Silverado

Well, mine is a 4.8 and it appears to have one of the 'spongy' heads... There's a particular run of heads that let a little coolant through a soft area. Mine started using a little coolant (maybe a half a cup every 1000 miles or so) and I looked and looked for leak, to no avail. I put a...
  15. 2001 Chevy l460 trans leak

Don't overfill, tho. There is a relief hole in the center of the transmission shaft, and fluid will come out of it there, and will make you think you have a leak.
  16. Engine & Transmission on a 2002 Silverado

Oh man.... I have heard about that cylinder thing. I have a friend who had to replace his engine because it screwed up. I think I'll probably go the refurbish route. Newer truck prices have gone completely insane. Anyone replace an engine in one of these? Seems like I heard the 6...
  17. Engine & Transmission on a 2002 Silverado

It has been serviced normally. Was having troubles going in and out of lockup, so I tried some Lucas transmission stuff, and it worked-for now.
  18. Transmission repair?

If you can get it to Fayetteville, there is an EXCELLENT transmission shop known as Shift Works. Those guys are straight and honest as the day is long (a rare thing these days.). They won’t rip you off
  19. Engine & Transmission on a 2002 Silverado

I have an 02 silverado. I have had it since new. Still works OK, but the transmission is starting to act a little funky at 195k. When I see prices of new or used trucks, I think about maybe doing an engine & transmission in my silverado and just driving it for a while longer. My truck...
  20. Replace a transmission on 8 year old Yukon for $5800?

Go to Shift Works in Fayetteville. Honest shop with great reputation.(Of course it is worth replacing. A new Yukon would have to be 75k)
