A few mods I did to an older Model 78 smooth spine in FDE flavor:
*Sharpened clip point to spear like.
*Filed spine to sharp 90° to strike ferro rod.
*Removed end cap and tapped for 1/2" threads.
*Drilled 1/2" bolt for ferro rod install.
*Cold Blued bolt head
*Installed O-ring as lock...
For $30 something dollars you'd be hard-pressed to find a better fixed blade knife.
If you have an older non-sawtooth spine model they're fetching about $100 now I hear.
The Glock E-Tool is a fantastic piece of kit too.
OP I've had one for years and it's a great tool.
I find myself sharpening my machetes, hatchets, and axes more with it though as I still prefer a stone for my blades.
My Esee Junglas is the best do-all camp knife for me. It literally handles everything from cutting fruit to processing wood. Don't let its size intimidate you as the knife's balance is incredible.
I do like me some elongated porcelain....much roomier!! :becky:
Sign of the times but I hear yeah though. Like Kershaw they got imports and US made models in their line ups.
This is one of their "US Made" models and it looks/feels just as good as the one I sent in but we'll see how it holds up.
They did not and I did not expect it or the old nylon sheath back.
I asume they processed it as a warranty claim even though that wasn't my intent.
Just the packing slip on box and new knife in it's box inside with some bubble wrap.
So my old man always said "never under estimate the power of the pen". Of course in today's world you could substitute email or maybe even text in that statement....
Last month I decided on a whim to "pen" out a little letter to Gerber and send my well used (and often abused) EZ-OUT folder back...
Yep have the Ken Onion version and love it. Use it for sharpening small blades thru machetes and all my hatchets. Also keeps great edges on my gardening sheers/clippers/loppers.
My latest knife addition was a Kershaw Camp 14. My Esee Junglas was begging for a big brother to hang with.
Gotta say I'm impressed with this thing.....It hits with authority and feels great in my hands.
For just over $40, I'd call it a bargain that impresses!
There are some very sharp accusations being thrown around in this thread. I wish y'all would clean the edges a bit and sharpen the tone so we can fully understand the penitratration of what has transpired when being stuck with a counterfeit blade.
Are esee or mora blades some to look out for?
