What are the chances that the Covid 19 crisis will develop into a post Sandy Hook situation where we could see guns and/or ammo unavailable or at steep prices? Just curious what your thoughts are. Anecdotally, I am hearing rumblings of an increased interest in guns.
....the Chestnut Mt. shooting range specifically. And there was the usual. The "professionals", the ones with bags and rifle sleds, sometimes with a chronograph, the pre-teen with his dad, shooting his .22, the young guy with girlfriend, both shooting rifles in the pistols only area, showering...
Quick side note. If you go to the CMP go to the Berman Museum of World History, which is only about 10 minutes north. Here's a thread I made about it: https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/threads/the-berman-museum.1989503/
Yesterday my son and I drove to Anniston, AL to visit the CMP. While I left with a Garand my son and I both left with some great memories. After I got my Garand we drove about 10 minutes to the north side of Anniston and visited the Berman Museum. It was a real treat. We were surprised that a...
So this is the one I picked up today. There really is a lot to learn about these classic firearms. This one has a Winchester receiver and a Springfield barrel. The guys behind the counter looked up the serial number and said it would have been issued in 1941. However the barrel was made in 1951...
Hey, don't be a Killjoy. Hand pick... and the immersive experience. I don't want to just buy a Garand. I also want to look at all the other old guns. It kind of inspires me, seeing all those old guns that ppl still desire. Makes me feel that even I still have a purpose... :D
Thanks for the offer, Brett. I really want to go in the week. I SOOOOO hate crowds. So I think it might be another week or two when I can get off work. We are super busy right now.
So I finally have enough to buy an M1 Garand. I plan on looking at the service grade options, unless the field grades look fine. This will be my first Garand. And although I'm not real sure what to look for on the guns, I hear the CMP's grading is very fair, if not favorable to the buyer. But my...
Not sure where you got the idea that this is a $500 safe. It's a Liberty Franklin 17 gun safe. Even in 1992 when bought new, it cost $1600. It's not a cheap Cannon safe that you get from Walmart.
It did include other pieces of furniture.
Thanks for the link. Never heard of those guys. The gun is currently locked in a custody battle. (My brother and I both want it.) I really wanted it to keep my repro P38 company, but we'll see.
Anyone have an idea of value? I'll post more pics if someone believes themselves to be an Ortgies expert.
Yeah, I've already looked at Numrich. I don't want their repro's.
There are some really unique features. The "safety" is engaged by pressing a button. Then to disengage the safety you press the backstrap lever. To remove the barrel for cleaning you twist it 90 degrees counter clockwise. It's...
I came into possession of an old Ortgies today, and I wanted to share a pic, and ask some questions. One of the grips was "repaired" and I would love to get another one. And does anyone have any info about serial number lookup? Looks like it was made between 1921 and 1924. Here's some more...
I need to move a safe (Liberty, probably at least 24 gun, no idea of weight) from rural south GA to Kennesaw, GA. We have to rent a U Haul to move some furniture also. So are there companies that can load the safe, then perhaps another company that will unload and place the safe up in Kennesaw...
I own Streamlight products, and I'm pretty happy with them. I just hope they aren't supporting those who are trying to kill firearm freedom in this country also.
I bought my wife a SW 642 for Christmas and we still haven't taken the pistol to the range. Wife is not much of a shooter although she will shoot .22, larger frame 9mm like my Glock 19 or my Sig SP 2022 in 9mm.
I bought some low recoil defensive ammo (Hornady Critical Defense "Lite" 90 gr...
