  1. Building a barn

Any updates...I'm interested in actually building a bardominium style home on my property and this inspired me a bit.
  2. What to do with it?

I fell this 75' oak this past December and just now getting around to clearing it out of my path down to the river. The trunk is a good 24" in diameter and wonder what type of projects would be good for it. It's nice and straight for about 12 feet before getting into any knots or limb shoots. I...
  3. Built my wife a she-shed out of pallets.

This project took me a lot longer than I originally anticipated and planned for, but am certainly glad I got it finished up so I could get on with other projects. This is a 16' x 12' shed made using poor grade 40x48 pallets. I am totally amazed how much light is brought in using the clear...
  4. How to flash between deck and sunroom?

I'm working on plans to build an enclosed sunroom and extend a deck off of it. I'm not sure I'm going about this the correct way, but with my joists secured on top of my rim joist, I am not sure how the flashing would work between the sunroom and deck. Any ideas? Do I need to reconfigure how the...
  5. Need suggestions for replacing water line

I ended up renting a trencher and ran all new 1" pex from the meter up to the house, so ended up being close to 700'. Now my line is completely within my property and I don't have to worry about the neighbors any longer.
  6. building carport on top of the driveway

I built a 20' x 16' lean-to carport recently off the front of my house. I don't have a concrete slab or asphalt, so I poured roughly 24" footers which embed the 4 x 4 posts within them. I live on top of a hill, so I get some tremendous winds and it is pretty rock solid. I used 2 x 6 for the...
  7. Add enclosed lean-to on existing 2nd story deck

The wife and I are looking to enclose our existing deck that currently sits on 4 x 4 posts that is above the walkout basement porch. Knowing that the deck needs to be completely tore down and rebuilt, we're looking for where/who to turn to for getting plans drawn up that can be used to build...
  8. Need suggestions for replacing water line

Yes, there is a cutoff valve near the driveway that had the line damage earlier this year by delivery trucks. When I dug down to replace it, it was around 18". I'm thinking I should be able to dig this out with a shovel, but if it is kicking my butt, I'll bite the bullet and rent a trench digger.
  9. Need suggestions for replacing water line

I like #3 option, but I'm leaning towards PEX for it's flexibility. I was looking at something like the below for the protective outer line. The line I will be replacing is about a 30 foot area. I'm on good terms with the neighbor, so I shouldn't have any issues while getting this repaired...
  10. Need suggestions for replacing water line

I have my main water line that runs under an area of ground that is now part of my neighbor's property. At one time it was all one piece of land, but the previous owner divided it up, which is why part of my line now runs under the neighbors property line. They have used a part of that area to...
