10/22 Porn

I guess it depends on what you want. Steel is stronger, less likely to strip threaded holes, but it is slightly heavier. I like this one because I intended it to be more of a target shooter than a hunting gun. With that said, it is still considerably lighter then my 10/22T.
Makes sense. Thanks.

Just put my name up for a Kingston Armory steel receiver on S&P Outfitters in Fort Worth, Tx.. The guy said that they were expecting to get 20 in in the next couple of weeks. He also told me they were not making them any more and I found that the Kingston Armory domain sight was up for sale. I wanted a MOA SS, threaded receiver but there is no way to get in touch with them. Kidd, Volqaurtsen, BNR and TacSol are off the chain expensive.
So does anyone know where I would be able to get a Kingston 10/22 receiver and not be on a waiting list?
Sellers name on Gunbroker.com is pa.patriot

It's a 10/22 receiver. Absolutely no need for steel
There is no need for a lot thing people put on their 10/22s. I am not one concerned at all about weight. Heavy rifles give me stability. I've shot competition for years with 2 Texas state championships, one US championship and an Olympic trials run, plus tootin' a heavy rifle in the military. As many rounds as I put down range steel seems to be the best for me. The stock aluminum receiver I have on it now is starting to wear out. So yes there is a need for steel. Companies in the 10/22 business would not make them and since they do I want one. So thar ya big bully. :)

I am really satisfied with the one I got. Very well made, with the GM heavy taper barrel it balances a lot better than my T as well as being considerably lighter. It’s not as light as my carbine, but would not be too heavy for hunting and I think will be a lot more accurate.

I never stated anything about weight specifically because I like heavy rifle, if balanced properly. You just aren't going to get that weight and balance out of a steel receiver. There are better ways to add weight.

Is there anything wrong with a steel receiver? No, of course not. I wouldn't compare a stock Ruger receiver to a Kidd though. Granted, I'm running mine with a Kidd bolt, so cut to match extremely well, but dumped thousands of rounds out of it. No marring or anything. All rounds suppressed with a terrible cleaning regimen.

So it can be more easily retrieved after the boating accident while magnet fishing!

Ok, all you guys in the 10/22 know. I'm looking at purchasing a new 16.25'' barrel. Either a fluted .920 or a .920 tapered to .635. What say ya'll?

I’m well pleased with the Green Mountain 17” heavy taper sporter barrel I got for my KA build. GM also makes a 16” sporter that’s fluted, has a bentz chamber and is available blued or stainless. Rimfire sports and custom has the best prices on them and ships for free.
Federson and of course Kidd are very recommended in the rimfire community too, great barrels just a bit pricier than the GM.

Thank you sir. Been saving for the Fedderson and yes it's pricey. Just a toss up between the two different configurations.
