And I snagged this one earlier this year.

My wife is sleeping so I won’t wake her to dig mine out. But it has a very interesting story that comes with a $5000 price tag.

My very dear friend that died of cancer several years ago, had a LLama .45 he told everyone that he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with, but carried it everywhere as he said he would only use it up close and personal and he never we aimed at a door. LOL. He loved that gun, god knows why, but he did. Ugly as warmed over sin.
Anyway, he had the dope cops roll up on him looking for someone else, you have to understand this is one of those guys that knows everyone and is always up for a party, great guy you all know the type. But they found a joint in his van. They thought there was more going on and charged him with a concealed weapon because the gun was under the passenger seat, but Frank was on his porch when the officers drove in the driveway. Crap charge and seizure, but they did.

Anyway after he asked me about it, and I explained the law, he started pestering a very expensive Lawyer to take his case. The lawyer didn’t want to take the case, not because it wasn’t an easy case, but that it wasn’t worth his time. But my friend wanted his gun back and price wasn’t an option, now understand my friend was not wealthy, just determined. I told him that there was no way the gun would even be worth a cheap flaky lawyer, much less a high powered criminal defense lawyer of this caliber.
However Frank would not take no for an answer, and kept pestering this lawyer. Finally he told him the least dollar amount he would take a case was $5000. Frank told him fine, and hired him.

Took about two years to work though the court, but he got a call and he was told he could pick up his gun. He refused to pick it up and called the lawyer again. Not sure if it cost more or if the lawyer figured he paid enough. Long story short, the original seizing officer had to bring the gun back and hand it to him with the ammo.

When he went on Hospice he called me and gave me the gun he cherished so much that he would spend that kind of money on. I still have it and the ammo he had in it when it was seized.

No pictures, but my first 1911 was a Llama. It was actually a beautiful gun with really nice wood grips and an excellent finish.

Yes, his nick name was “Cloudy Daze” from HS. Never really grew up, I always said I was going to paste his face on a Peter Pan poster. LOL
