I picked up a Mighty Max built in August 1992 with a smoke machine for a motor. This thing would make James Bond jealous, not even a ninja could penetrate the clouds behind this monster! In its current state, it isn't exactly the stealth hunting truck I am looking for.

It appears to be a 3.0 sohc engine. Does anyone know what donor vehicles would have a compatible engine? Looking for one that came out of a mighty max has proven largely fruitless.

The 8th digit in the vin is H.

Thanks!!

I heard it's the same motor in the Chrysler town and country vans. Any one else hear that?
I think there is some unremembered issue with that because the mini vans are front wheel drive...?
That engine was in the Dodge D50 pick ups and maybe in Mazda pick ups.
I have a 1988 Mighty Max sitting in the yard because parts got so hard to find.

I'm not sure if the front drive layout will work, but you might be able to simply transfer all of the rear drive stuff from the truck and make it work. Unfortunately these engines don't have the best reputation for long term reliability, which might be why you're having trouble finding one.

The Mitsubishi Triton is a compact pickup truck produced by Mitsubishi. In Japan it was originally known as the Mitsubishi Forte and from 1991 as the Strada. In the United States Chrysler Corporation sold captive imports as the Dodge Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow truck, and Mitsubishi marketed it as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max until 1996.

The 3.0 is basically the same as what was in many front wheel drive vehicles, but you will have issues converting to a rear wheel drive transmission. I sold The Dodge import version at the time and remember they were the same as the Mitsi, only difference was the nameplate.

I have a line on a 93 raider which is supposed to be a direct swap, pretty sure I'll have to change the oil pan at a minimum. I found this list on a MM forum.

According to WIKIPEDIA, all these cars used the 6g72:
Applications
1990–2001 Mitsubishi GTO (aka Mitsubishi 3000GT, Dodge Stealth)
1989–1995 Plymouth Acclaim/Dodge Spirit/Chrysler Saratoga
1987–2000 Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager
1990–1993 Dodge Ram 50
1988–1993 Dodge Dynasty
1988–1990 Dodge Raider
1991-1996 Dodge Stealth
1990–1995 Chrysler LeBaron
1990–1991 Chrysler TC by Maserati

That seems like an awful lot of cars with the same engine.
