You need a shop with tech2 I have one and it will show where problem is

yupp I came here to say this. Money says this is it.Ignition coils can get hot and cut off.
Does it just die or sputter and stall, again huge difference.
Failing crank sensor or related wiring will do this because the ecm doesnt see the engine rotating so it cuts fuel and spark.
It sounds like an electrical/wiring problem to me too.

I would go with this as I had the same happen to me, you would be going down the road and it justs shuts off, let it sit a few minutes and ir starts right back up. If you tried fright after it shuta off it just winds like it isn't firing.I had that happen to a 99 ford contour and it was a cam sensor.
