2001 - A Space Oddity

The opening is fantastic. It is obviously the ODT's ancestors that have split into two faction. If you look closely during one scene there is a Yeti cooler in the background.
High ballers and low ballers.
Pretty awesome movie in 1968 when I was 12 and watching it at the theater. Maybe today, not so much.
I thought Kubrick’s “2001”was pretty good.
But other old movies that everybody lauds are boring or over my head.
“Citizen Kane” comes to mind. I turned it off halfway thu.
“On the Waterfront” with Marlon Brando, too.
I’d like to see the few James Dean movies he made before his fatal wreck.

I was 15 when that movie came out. Mmmm Dorothy Stratton. You do the math. lol
I think I was 10 or 11 when I saw it. Back then, it was unlike anything else, and was fascinating and thought provoking. It may not have stood the test of time, but Star Wars is a kiddies cartoon, intellectually, in comparison.
