22 mag for snakes?

I was thinking of getting a NAA 22mag to take with me hunting in case I need it for a snake. Would it be enough to dispatch one or do I need to get a lightweight 38? What are ya'll thoughts on this,thanks.

I use a little 38 with rat shot and hollow points alternated. Works great. I've seen 22s miss. I never want to miss and a 38 carries about twice the pellets.

I bought a Bond Arms derringer specifically for snakes. Figured a 410 shell full of birdshot will get the job done and then some

I killed a rattler from about 5ft with 22mag ratshot no problem

The long rifle shot shells work as well, I think the mag has more shot though.

Maybe with rat shot. NAA's, by virtue of the short barrel, are highly inaccurate

I have killed a many rattle snakes/copper heads with 22lr it works well when there on the ground or in a small tree a great small shot shell round.

Don't be laying your weapon on the ground beside the enemy!
