.25acp still viable for pocket carry?

Reminds me of the time my roommate got into a bar room brawl, got his back cut up pretty bad (some junior surgeon had attempted to remove a kidney), he's being sewed up in the emergency room. Starts complaining of chest pains, they flip him over and find a .25 acp hardball just under the skin on his breastbone.
Apparently, during the festivities, someone had shot him in the chest, that puny round didn't penetrate, and he hadn't even realized it.
I guess in the heat he didn't even hear the gun go off. WOW

I've carried everything from 22-45 in a pocket pistol. The 25 is anemic. But if that's the one you'll carry, it's better than the one you leave at home. Also realize if you had to use it, you might not get it back from an investigation.......The 32 is a much better round

I heard (from an ODT lawyer :) ) that if you kill somebody with a .25 caliber that you can only be convicted of malicious intent to do bodily harm... just what I heard. :)
Also I hear they will kill a mouse (with 3 or more hits to vital organs)... it's why they call them "mouse guns" :)

1-- I don't want to carry a self-defense gun with the chamber empty nor do I want to carry a tiny little mouse gun with a single action trigger system chamber loaded but with the safety on . I don't wanna fumble with a tiny little safety button as I draw and present the weapon to a threat.

2-- Forty years ago 25 caliber mouse gun was an "understandable" choice for discreet and casual concealed carry (pocket carry) because it was so small and lightweight compared to any handgun available on the market that came in a proper defensive Caliber.

But now we have .380 ACP caliber pocket pistols that are not any bigger or heavier than the 25 and 22 LR pocket pistols of two generations ago.
There are .380 loads out there that can drive a hollowpoint bullet 12 inches deep into ballistic gelatin while allowing it to expand to 55 or 60 caliber.

So... I got rid of my 22 and 25 caliber
tiny handguns and replaced them with
a .380 slim flat pocket pistol with a double action only trigger system.

Same as, my 45 pocket pistol is the same size and weight as the 380 I used to carry. My motto is to carry the largest caliber you can and still be able to conceal it easily. And of course, hit somethin with it.

I've inherited a colt vest pocket .25acp.
Neat little gun grip safety, thumb, safety, unique takedown in fairly good condition. Though I'm not gonna invest much in this, I know that there are plenty who still rely on the .25acp for discrete carry. I'd say that the addition of the Buffalo Bore offerings help breathe what little life is there is left in this cartridge.

Out of curiosity who drops one of these caliber guns in their pocket as a secondary or third gun, or even a primary for whatever purpose or reason? Of course pictures are always welcome.
I wouldn’t run buffalo anything in an old colt. Just grab some full metal jacket regular -degular 25acp that it can run reliably. It’s better than a sharp pencil, and probably make the same hole as one.

Thankfully, I have never been attacked by a block of ballistic gelatin.
Or anything else, in about 50 years.
So, I just drop my KelTec P32 in my pocket and go about my day.

I saw a bouncer (at a bar) get shot in the hand with a 25 acp , I was a teenager sneaking in to buy cigarettes from an old machine . “ tough guy “ had gotten thrown out of the dolphin bar on palm ave , he pointed the gun at the bouncer , the bouncer put his hands up to defend I guess, and the tough guy shot him. The bouncer pushed the dude into traffic and the tough guy got hit by a car 👀. Bouncer lived, I got my pack of cowboy killers, and the tough guy’s brains were left on the street till Saturday 11am ….
