.270 vs .308 for hunting?

I can dig it! What we hunt more often times than not a short action will do more than we need it to. I have no complaints with it. I have a couple calibers designed for the short action. So yeah I can do short action and some cases a mini action if I am going that route.
I have an Israeli Mauser that weighs like 6lbs with a scope on it. Then an Abolt. Used to have a Bar, loved the rifle. Got tired of carrying the extra weight. Then an ole beat up BLR. All in 308. Also have a 257Wby. Love the cartridge, but it's expensive and hard to find. I question that one, but it sure gets the job done. Also 375 H&H and 458 Win Mag. You know, for the pesky squirrels

For a one gun Georgia big game hunter (do such people exist?), take your pick.

For someone who wants cartridge/firearm flexibility, .308.

For a gun nut...doesn't matter. You'll own both at one time or another.

I keep both. .308 is good abundant common and powerful, .270 has been around since 1923 to 1925 and still killing deer, Jack O'Connor hunt with it for years with it. For garden variety caliber I keep both. Plenty rounds of those in my closet. They will do the job when the time comes
Did you already step out of the closet …?
