300 whisper vs 300 blackout

from what I've read you can shoot Whisper out of Black, but not Black from a whisper. S&W claims their 300 whisper upper can shoot BLK though
I thought it was the other way around? 300aac is a saami cartridge with (some sort of) standardization or pressure loads but 300 whisper isn't?
From what I can recall reading, now that I'm a couple of beers deep into Saturday night, was that 300 whisper loadings had pressure variations above that of 300aac. Therefore, blackout through a whisper barrel was fine but not vice-versa.

Is there even a point to whisper anymore?
The point is to add an extra $75 to S&W's bottom line every time someone buys their combo 300 whisper / AAC upper.
Good luck finding 300 whisper ammo! Not that the blackout ammo is that much more prevalent.

With the price of 300 Blackout Uppers being what they are, I would not take a chance myself.
If I understand correctly, the difference is in the leade of the chamber. Case dimensions are the same.
My opinion is that the Blackout was a clever way to get around JD Jones patent.
