Well in the not too distant future we will be posting in this same kinda there's but it will be about 30 Super Carry. I don't think it ever got off the ground. At least 357 Sig was the hot new thing for a little while. Not to hijack this Thread, but I find it interesting and was curious if any of you have the same negative feelings usewise toward the 45GAP. Thanks.

I've said it here before (many times) but I'll say it again. 40 was a fad. I still remember saying it back around 90 when it was in the cover of every magazine. For the longest time you were considered uncool and non tactical if you weren't carrying something in 40. But look at it now...45GAP is the dastardly red headed step child AND the 3rd monkey trying for the ark. It's not only dead, its a never was.
Get a 40 S&W ( also dying) or 45ACP ( Living the dream).
45 GAP Is for those that want an issue finding ammo, magazines, Holsters, triggers, etc etc for their unique Glock.
I only know 1 person that still has 45 GAP, and that's because it was his duty gun for some years.
I still like 40 better than 9. But there's that. 9 has been around a long timeI've said it here before (many times) but I'll say it again. 40 was a fad. So basically I was right about 40. It just took a lot longer than I expected it to .
From what little I know 40 was a compromise brought on by the FBI and S&W . They were committed to using a Smith pistol in 10mm in 89 or 90 and it had problems. Plus some agents (female) couldn't handle the recoil of 10mm. So someone came up with the shortened version of 10mm often referred to as 40 Short and Weak.I still like 40 better than 9. But there's that. 9 has been around a log time
Ammo cost is definitely a factor. I have spoken to cops with three different agencies from Mercer University Campus PD to Bibb Co to Port Authority Police down at the Brunswick Port. They all used to carry Glocks in 40. But between 2013 and 2018 they all went back to G17 pistols. And they ALL made the switch due to ammo cost.Fad or not, 40 is better than 9 or 45. 357 sig is essentially a low end hi capacity 357 mag in a 9mm frame. I really don't understand what people want.
Want a pistol more powerful than a 9mm but only sacrificing 2 rounds? Want a pistol more powerful than 45 while doubling capacity and reducing grip size?
Are you recoil sensitive? Probably should stop comparing +P+ to 40 and 357.
9 is easier to make. Takes less material.
If a company can convince the population into 1 caliber it makes profits and production much easier. With the 2011 and popularity of 9mm the new generation will phase out 45.
You'll have one choice and like it. If theres ever a run on 9mm... for something like a war perhaps. GL unless you reload. Even then you may find brass and bullets difficult to come by.
Personal I dont see this as totally a lack of consumer interest but tactical manipulation of the industry to drop support and funnel sheep into the pen.
Well it's first hand events that I've seen. That's why I feel the way I do. The 45 is king. But the person has a better chance of survival with a 40 vs 45. The 10 seems to be as good, probably better than 45. I've never owned a 10, so I don't have first hand experience with it. If it were more main stream, I probably would have oneFrom what little I know 40 was a compromise brought on by the FBI and S&W . I don't have a problem with 40 as a whole but being raised by boomer fudds I always just figured that if I needed something bigger than 9mm in an auto then 45acp has always been right there. Plenty of pistols and mags already available in 45 as well as ammo.
But if you dig 40 I feel like you should be able to use it without worrying about it fading away.
...even though it costs as much as 45ACP and 10mm.
