.357SIG: What’s the point of this cartridge?

Are the Air Marshals still going to transition to the Glock 19 or did that idea get cut in the budget?

Last I heard the G19 didn’t make the final cut. It came down to the FN and the P320, both in 9mm (the caliber change is a DHS mandate). From what I heard, when the dust settled, we had picked the P320 X-Carry......pretty spiffy. Even if that’s what we go with, it won’t be anytime soon. I doubt we have anywhere close to the money to make the switch. I bet I’ll still be carrying the P229 .357SIG when I retire. Not that I mind, excellent gun in a great caliber.

competition is great for the market. Possible Glock will rethink the market and try to improve perfection rather than rely on it. with less contracts maybe they will focus on the civilian market and finally put out a SBR

Good read with excellent evidence to back it up.

Have been carrying since '96
I plink with my nines (bhps, fns9L, p30L) but like have the extra if to stay outta of firefight. Just takes more skills to master but some pros say the loudness & fireball can provide a psychological edge (against bad guy). Wish glock would come out with the rifle to go with all the 22 rounders I have.

Why? Ruger just put out a better carbine than Glock would ever release, and at 1/2 the price if they ever do...

:bolt:

Starts in the throat and over time extends towards the bore a little bit. You can see it with the naked eye. I thought it was fouling, at first.
Interesting. But is it true flame cutting, or just frosting of the bbl?

I wonder if a change in powder would alleviate this?

The problem was getting a 357 magnum proven track record in a hi-cap semi auto. The answer from SIG was a 125 grain doing over 1400 fps. I think they got to the point. Not everyone likes the solution for a requested problem. Like the problem with 10mm. They asked for power then wussed out. Im glad they asked, it gave us a great round. 10mm is an awesome hunting / backup pistol. People didnt miss electricity till it was invented they had fire. People walk or rode horses before the car. If it wasnt for people working on stuff we didnt need we wouldnt have progress.
This is my carry ammo 1475/604 out of a P229
