I guess this is no different from a composite one. I'm guessing those are injection mold instead of printed... but similar material / concept.


Pretty neat. Wonder if they can 3D print an upper as well.

I know the guy that did that. Here's what he said about it on another forum (Non Firearms):

Took me long enough to get around to testing it. Used a CMMG .22 conversion kit and a CMMG 7.3" barrel. Dang thing worked better than a lot of 'proper' .22 pistols I've shot.

Just in case anyone is still reading this, yes, it works fine with .223.

I am having feed and extraction issues, but these appear to be the fault of the upper (a proper aluminum lower made no difference). At least it goes 'bang' just fine.

Parts kit went in fine after drilling out a few holes to size. Had to wiggle around the mag catch a bunch to open up the slot a little, and ran the selector back and forth a whole lot to loosen it up.

Upper is a DPMS unit. I'm going to give it a cleaning and oil it up (it's practically dry) as well as try brass cartridges rather than the cheapie steel ones.

The ultimaker kit is probably the best bang for the buck on the market right now as far as overall price and quality of print.
