TESTING PHASE - DAY ONE RESULTS:

Yesterday, I tested some of my reloads:

I wanted to try and replicate the ever respected Speer Gold Dot Hollow-Point 9mm 124gr +P ammo.

First:
I chronograph-ed three factory Speer 124gr +P GDHP:
1221fps, 1206fps, & 1222fps. ; Avg= 1216fps - 16fps spread

Second:
I tested my load of my 9mm Speer 124gr GDHP:
1306fps, 1308fps, & 1318fps ; Avg= 1310fps - 12fps spread! WOW!

That's nearly 100fps faster with a tighter spread! Incredible! I am so proud of myself!

My formula for achieving the above:
7.3 grains of VV 3 N 37 under a 124gr GDHP seated COL of 1.142 w/ CCI SPP

All of the above tested rounds were fired from a CZ-75 SP-01.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My next goal was to see how much velocity I could achieve from a 9mm 90gr Hornady XTP out of a carbine with a 16 inch barrel (Sub2K). Here are my best results:

Five shots:
1861fps, 1878fps, 1863fps, 1889fps, & 1855fps ; Avg= 1866fps - 35fps spread

Now, 1889 fps out of a 9mm is incredibly fast... and very, very impressive.

My formula for achieving the above:
8.0 grains of VV 3 N 37 under a 90gr XTP seated COL of 1.065 w/ CCI SPP

I will be attempting to push a 90gr XTP above 1900 fps, maybe, just maybe, I can break 2000fps.

VV 3 N 37 is a phenomenal powder for 9mm, and burns very clean as well.

If you are a re-loader, I do not suggest you try these loads, and if you do so, you are doing so at your own risk....

Brass & Primers

The Federal cases are factory 115 grain FMJ. The Blazer cases are the reloads from the high velocity 90gr XTP.

Slight signs of higher pressure as opposed to the factory loads... Thoughts?

The primers still look better than the factory +p Speer 124gr GDHP loads..

I think it is just the primers. I have noticed that the consumer brands seem to be made of very soft metal. I have seen some semi-flat primers (esp. federal) with loads and velocities nowhere near max.
