My family is just getting back into shooting. Took the boys (almost 15 and 12) to range and they enjoyed shooting my Sears/Winchester 190 rifle that I received when I was about their age.

Got me thinking that I should probably pass on the favor that Santa did for me back then and get them their own .22.

What are your suggestions and why? We are not hunters - they probably would like something like the Ruger 10/22 with the tactical look. There are many options out there so just looking for some help to narrow down the rifles to look at.

TIA

If I were looking for a gun to pass along to my children I'd go for a CZ bolt action. No, it's not mall ninja-esque, but it's a classic that they will appreciate when they are grown. Just my two cents.

It needs a wooden stock so it can get scratches and dings...those are the way a gun helps to preserve memories. ;)
