When I helped run a local junkyard I bought a cheap Stanley socket set on a hardcase in sale at Walmart and put it behind the counter. My boss commented on it being a good idea while looking through it. I told him to take the 10mm sockets and throw them out the side door of the office as hard as he could. Then he gave me the confused look and asked why. I just said "That's where they'll wind up anyway."

My father passed away a few months back and I am cleaning out his basement. I could fill a 55 gallon drum with all the misc. nuts, bolts and screws. But hell he was 80, so he had been collecting for some time.

I must confess I keep a junk bin of miscellaneous nut bolts etc. come in handy often but I do a lot of piddling

I once bought a half filled 5 gal bucket at an estate sale. I broadcast the whole lot around my bug out place just in case alpha agency is looking for something in the future. I have calmed down since then

I have a bucket that I keep used bolts in. I have a rule, if it doesn’t have a nut with it, I throw it directly in the trash.
