Ahhh you preppers are a bunch of nutjobs!

Gas goes bad pretty quickly. Do you rotate the gas you have stored or just put something like Stabil in it for prolonged storage? I think some of the Doomsday Preppers are a little nuts, but being able to comfortably survive a short period of unrest makes a lot of sense.

I normally fill up two 5 Gal cans, I always add stabilizer to them. I use them for my garden and yard tractors, yard equipment. Refill them as needed. If I'm ever worried about it's potency, then I'll pour the rest in my truck. If there is a pending crisis, I have an plenty of extra 5 gal cans and fill them up. Like now. I'll just use that gas in the vehicle after the crisis is over.

Ethanol gas will go bad quickly. Ethanol free gas (Pure Gas stations) will last a year or longer when you use a fuel preservative. I would use Seafoam before Stabil. Or consider diesel or propane generators for even longer lasting less volatile fuel storage.

The preppers that I think are nuts are the ones that spend so much time "prepping" that they fail to enjoy life then the fan blades are clean. This snow storm is typical of what I "prep" for...not so much a zombie apocalypse or a Government overthrow.

I have all my vehicles full all the time. I as stabil with ethanol treatment in everything even in twenty plus gals in containers. I do rotate it into cars/truck overtime to keep it good. there's some stuff called Star Tron that supposedly rejuvenates gas. I put some in a mix gas can that was over three years old as a test. put it into a chain saw and it started and run fine. a buddy cut two trees down. may have been luck of the draw. a full tank also reduces the posibility of water/moisture also.

A propane generator seems like a better alternative. There's a Pure Gas Station close by that sells ethanol free for about $5/gallon. That's all I'll use in my lawn mower and small equipment.
