ak 47 ammo

What kind of barre does the AK have? American made 4150 or Communist Hammer Forged Chrome Lined? If it's the latter unless you are a rich man you will be dead and buried before it wears to the point that you see any noticeable shift in POA/POI. The Owner of Battlefield Las Vegas has a good thread over on arfcom detailing the endurance of american made barrels vs communist barrels. He only uses Wolf steel case ammo, no longer uses any american made AKs or AK built with american made barrels, and has some Romanian barrels that are past 80,000 rounds and are closing on 100,000 rounds and are still going strong. I linked it below, it's worth the read.

The Luckygunner test mentioned above was done using Bushmaster ARs and really isn't relative to an AK.
That was a good article from a person who has REAL world experience. Tula and wolf are more consistent than most ammo on the market here.

What wears the barrel is mild steel jacket used in bullets, not what case is made out of.
Steel cased ammo will have copper washed (bimetal) bullet. If it is a chrome lined barrel, you will not wear it out.
I put probably close to 5K+ rounds of Rissian bimetal ammo thru my first Vepr. It is as accurate as it always has been.

My PTR -91 was $999. They warranty the gun and barrel to 25,000 rounds . You know how much 25,000 rounds of .308 costs ?

You got your monies worth miles back and spent 5x what the rifle costs just on ammo. Buy another barrel or throw that ****er away. You don’t hang on to a broke hammer. A gun is no different ...

I only feed that thing wolf or Tula . No problem.
