I'm sure this can of worms has been opened and closed and open and closed and opened... BUT, I know that an AK is a pretty easily obtained terrorist weapon that shoots awesome in the air or blindly from behind stuff, but what's a "good" one?? I've had them offered for my pistol, but due to my lack of knowledge I don't want to assume a particular one is a good deal and then have it be the WalMart model. Anyway, I'm sure you get what I'm askin, so fire away! ( just not blindly please )

It would be a lot more helpful if you provide the one(s) you have been offered. In all honesty, I can't think of many AK's that I would not own, besides an IO (Inner Ordinance). Those are garbage, IMO.

I'm not a full on ak nerd but I have a few. The typical factory 1K+ ak's are arsenal & norinco. Lancaster used to have a good name but you have to know the build date to make sure you don't get a century type build as their quality went in the toilet their last couple of years in business. As the election gets closer many ak's that used to be 600 - 700 are now approaching 1k. For custom ak's, anything touched by Jim fuller (rifle dynamics), krebs customs will be 2K+
If you are starting from blank, I'm assuming it's the $$$ you need to understand. Arsenal = $1000, everything else is $700 or less. It's AK man, if it doesn't give you a boner just post it up. We will tell ya.
This is pretty much spot on. Arsenals are the only $1k factory AK's in reality. In today's market a good AK is running around $600-$700. Anything else is overpriced unless accessories, mags or ammo factor into the equation.
