Chemical algae killer works great, if used right kill it in sections, if you kill it all at once when it dies it will deplete the oxygen levels in he water enough to kill your fish , just be careful with it

1 water lilly today 1000 in a couple months they grow like KudzuIm no scientist - but I have read that introducing water lillies and other floating water plants will help absorb some of the sunlight that the algae need to thrive?
