I recently replaced the upper and lower control arms plus ball joints on my 2002, the rubber bushings in the control arms had dry rotted. Had mine done on a recall for free at 150000 miles.. and they were still goodoh sorry. Lower Ball Joints. They didn't recall the first year or two, but later had one I believe.
Literally every single week almost their is a huge LBJ failure on the first gen. (also the 4 runner had this issue too).
Don't go 200k on the originally LBJ's.
