Any fellow welders/fabricators here?

The welding skills is a CWI are limited, but their knowledge of everything weld is stellar.
Example of this CWI's tinkering.

I don't. Everything I weld gets NDT'd and FPI'd as well as X-rayed now and then...I weld turbine combustion chambers for Delta Airlines. And I LOVE it.
And thats why they (we) keep you around, cuz you’re the best! Well that and when I remove too much, you can add it back

I started welding around 1980 for a livestock equipment company. Since then I did some structural and high rise signs, then built custom car haulers, heavy and light equipment trailers and a few for hauling some 40'+ boats from a boat maker in N.J. The last 14 years of my welding was for a fence company where I welded galvanized, powder coated, and rubber coated steel. Found out in 2010 that I have severe emphysema and in 2019 only have 32% lung function left. So its great if youre lucky enough to work for places that have modern safety stuff. I think most of the damage was from the last 14 years.
