Any watch people here???

Really? I have Rolexes from literally every decade since the 60's and each keeps great time (within 3 secs deviation a day - in line with COSC standards). To say they're not worth the price is odd to me since you can buy one new, walk out of the store and trade in and only loose a few hundred dollars. Try that with a different brand.. As far as quality, again there is no comparison at that price point in my opinion.
I only owned one, and it would lose about 8-10 mins a day! sorry guys. there isn't a watch out that I value over 5000. even if its solid gold. im either too practical or broke lol

That's odd. Obviously something was wrong. Rolex allows for +or- 3-5 seconds a day as the standard. Typically when a watch needs servicing it speeds up instead of slowing down. Losing that kind of time would suggest a broken part of out of spec part. If it was used perhaps it was serviced by someone not qualified to do so. Either way, high end watches aren't for everyone. Some just can't justify the cost. Even if the watch is made of gold and runs perfectly you would probably still question the cost verses the usability and that's completely understandable. Why is something worth $5K when a plastic $30 watch will out last it and keep superior time? It's all about perspective.

I ran into this argument when I bought my first Wilson Combat 1911. Why spend $3K on a 1911 when you can buy a Glock for $500 that will out preform it 99% of the time? Because I could and that's what I wanted was my answer. Some people just have to own the best no matter what. Crazy is as crazy does.

Love my Rolex watches but I also love my Suunto Core. I used G-Shock while in the sandbox many years ago and it was very well suited to that environment but if I had to go back it would be Suunto all the way now.

Rolex is about more than just the watch itself so to say they aren't worth the money is relative to the individual. To be completely honest, Rolex is pretty far down on the high end watch list. The most expensive Rolex models are the entry level price point for many of the truly expensive watches. Ulysse Nardin, Philippe Patek, Audemars Piguet, LOUIS MOINET, FRANCK MULLER just to name a few. Google them, many start at $45K and go way up from there.

those suuntos are more the image I like to portray when entering a room. im probably one of the youngest members on here. when I walk in a room with my carhartt and ****kickers with a 2k watch I get some odd looks.

if you have the cash with no financial obligation, why not lol. Sold submariner it to a watch guy down in buford, he seemed to think it was gonna be easy for him to fix.

See. perspective. I'm 43 and depending on the activities for the day I choose my watch accordingly. I'm not going to a firearms training class, the range or working around the house wearing a Rolex or other expensive watch. But if I'm in business mode or in a social setting then most likely the Suunto is staying home. Not always depending on the location and crowd of course.

Hell I'm 29 and can relate perfectly to this, but my **** kicker watch is a Tag Professional 2000... It's been 13k above sea level on a mountain and at the bottom of a lake after jumping off the highest bridge I could find.. Still ticking ;)

*I have a 1.5 karat ring )14kyg and Platinum( I need to trade for a nice watch if anyone knows anyone.

1911-- ive basically worn my Movado everyday since the day I got it. its a tough ol bird and I do a lot of "activities" so to speak wearing it that I should probably not. but I got it with all intentions of wearing it. I bought it on my 17th (22 now) birthday and I was very proud of that. my intention is to give it to my firstborn son on his graduation if im ever a father. I want a nice suunto because at this point in my life im all about practicality and I could get much more use and would just like to put up my watch and get it out when I have to do something more formal. it always feels nice to throw on a nice time piece lol.

porche that is badass
