anyone ever spearfish?

anyone? do you go underwater with a spear gun or do it from a boat or dock?

I used to do it a bit when I lived in New England. We would just snorkel around until we saw something and then try to get close enough to spear it. We just used a band-powered spear like the one pictured. It uses the power of a rubber band to propel the spear which is very simple and effective if you can get close enough.
