I agree, results for the young man will be better with the 28ga. BUT, the 410 would be more fun and lighter recoil and once you master the 410 all the other gages will just fall in line.I don’t have a line on one, but I’d skip .410 bore and get the 28 ga. He will have much better luck hitting birds. I used a Beretta 686 28 ga for years on midwestern pheasants with great results. .410 bore is kind of an experts only shotgun imo.
