Anyone get their kid a beretta 686 in 28ga or .410 ? If so where did you find it? I’ve been looking and can’t find a used one anywhere for the boy.

For quail hunting, the "baby frame" 28 ga. 686 Silver Pigeon is a solid choice.
It is built on the same action and weighs the same as the 410. For short range work, it can pattern better than the 20 ga. You both can enjoy it for a lifetime.
Sole Oak Supply Sole Oak Supply in Fayetteville listed some nice Beretta shotguns a couple of weeks ago.

I don’t have a line on one, but I’d skip .410 bore and get the 28 ga. He will have much better luck hitting birds. I used a Beretta 686 28 ga for years on midwestern pheasants with great results. .410 bore is kind of an experts only shotgun imo.
I agree, results for the young man will be better with the 28ga. BUT, the 410 would be more fun and lighter recoil and once you master the 410 all the other gages will just fall in line.
