AR10 Troubleshooting

Not yet haven’t had time to mess with it I’ve been working long hours everyday. I’m off tomorrow so I’m gonna check it then. Is it possible for them to be worn out with an almost new BCG?

Not unless the BCG is made of pot metal. Ha

Check this out from the silencer shop. They break down common issues found when shooting suppressed.

Do you know what kind of rounds were shot through that weapon before you got them? The only reason I ask is some ammunition as you may well know is extremely dirty compared to others.

Just some quick searches on the net;

It may actually be over gassed. I had a similar problem with a 300Blk that was built to shoot subs. I had to have an adjustable gas block installed so I could turn it down and slow down the bolt to be able to shoot supers.

I’m shooting Hornady American gunner. Previous owner said he just shot bulk ammo and it functioned fine. I’m going to try different ammo not sure if that will do anything since I believe it is short stroking but can’t hurt to try

I’ve shot it with the gas block completely shut and shot it wide open with small adjustments in between with the same result.

I’ve thought about to putting a standard gas block in to see if that fixes the issue. But I’m gonna try different ammo first and check out the gas rings before I start throwing money at it
Hmm, I'd try to find a definitive fix to the weapon before experimenting with ammo as a solution. A .308 AR 10 should be able to handle any ammo, other than subs, with no problem.

If you haven't, clean your entire gas system thoroughly in addition to bore, chamber, bolt.
If it's short stroking it seems it isn't getting enough gas or too heavy spring and/or buffer
