Made cages all the time back when I was a kid. You'll catch just about any kind of bird in them.

When we were kids 50 or so years ago we wouldn't have anything to do so we would get our fishing rod out and tie a slip not in the line--make a loop and lay it on the ground with bread crumbs in the middle--when the bird landed in the loop while eating the bread just snap the rod tip back (like setting the hook) would catch the birds around the legs---ever try to fight a fish while it's flying above your head----just something to do i guess---it was really cool

turkeys will do the same thing, though you have to make it look a little more natural. You can make a pen with some cut down pine boughs
