Depending upon the size, they do great for camping or emergency short term with only limited power needs.

Long term or need a lot of power, then probably not the best solution.

Also can do well when needing to be quiet.

Buddy of mind is building two solar gen systems for his house, he says he can run the whole house unless we have a blackout of the sun.

I run this set up with an extra battery bank... seems to be working well.


But I also have a back up Gas generator for the rest of the house if it's a long term power down.

Then a decent one will work, just pick out the fridge first, then get a power unit able to handle it.
