Over the years I have owned several brands of striker fired pistols. I have Had a few Glock 17's, a G19, a G22, a couple M&P's, and a couple of XD's. I have also owned many traditional hammer fired pistols from Berettas, HK's, Sigs, CZ's, 1911's, to double action revolvers.

I currently have a Gen4 G17 with a professionally installed Ghost Rocket 3.5 trigger connector. It just seems to me that I don't shoot any of the striker fired pistols as well, as comfortably, as naturally, or as accurately as hammer fired pistols.

I went to the range today. It took most of a mag to get my G17 on target well. I also shot my Beretta MiniCougar (smaller than the G17 and double action only), and was right on target from the first shot. Over the course of my range visit, I was shooting the Beretta faster, more accurately, and more naturally than the Glock. The only way I can get accurate hits with the Glock is through determined, slow shots, really concentrating on each one.

It's not just this Glock and this Beretta. It's been this way with any striker vs hammer fired pistols that I have owned or fired.

Am I just not meant to fired striker fired pistols? Should I sell/trade the G17 and replace it with something hammer fired, and just stick with them?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I've owned and shot both, preferring hammer styles myself. (I just like a manual safety) But I've never had the issue that you are having, and it's hard to imagine how that would affect your accuracy. I suspect it's a weight-feel or possibly trigger issue as opposed to the manner in which the primer is struck. Also all the Beretta is an alloy frame vs. the polymer frame for the Glock. I'd probably try out another Glock, perhaps rent one, before you decide.

The Glock will be history soon. The main reason for the post was to see if others have had the same experience.
