I need some help here. I recently acquired a 1941 dated Colt 1911A1 that was unfortunately chrome plated by a previous owner.
1st question: Does anyone know somebody that’s well versed in “Reverse electro plating?” And would it be worth restoring?
2nd question: I discovered that the slide and frame don’t match. Now I know this is unfortunately a common thing for all surplus firearms 1911’s included. However, these serial numbers albeit different are very very close together. The frame is 738792, while the slide is marked 738812. That sets them 20 guns apart. The only reason for this I’m able to think of other than a coincidental pairing at the arsenal. Is that they could have been mismatched at the factory while being assembled?
If anyone has any ideas or info I’d appreciate a comment or pm
