Bad REI Experience

I gave up on them about a decade ago. Used to be incredible customer service. Also warranties on their products no matter how long you and them.

Prices have gone up so much that the warranty has gone down so much it's just not feasible to shop there.

Sounds about like Cabelas after the bass Pro takeover. I hate BP with a passion for screwing that up.

My wife and I shopped there for gear for a Scotland Rail/Trail vacation that we went on in June 2022. Bought a few things, socks, hiking shoes, stuff like that. Went on ebay, bought the back packs we saw there for 40% less than in the store. Still quality gear, but really pricey.
I would contact CS online, tell them the deal about the faulty valve. Also tell them that you will be ****mouthing them if they don't help you out!

I stay away from their branded items. I have had a REI sleeping pad fail on me one night and it was miserable. Had a tent from them that started deteriorating after 2 years and they did not honor the lifetime warranty that they stated when I bought it. I do buy stuff there if it is on sale for a good price, but stick with the name brands that I trust.

Just thought I'd detail a bad experience I had with REI trying to return or exchange a defective item. I bought the REI backpacking bundle online which is a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping mat. I used the mat for the second time this past weekend and had a serious issue with it; the inflation valve, which is only supposed to let air in, was letting air out like a huge whole, making it nearly impossible to inflate the pad. I contacted REI online and they suggested I take it to a store so I could exchange it. I drove 50 minutes to the store in Kennesaw and they wouldn't let me exchange or return it for anything. Their reasons were: they couldn't find me in the system, it was more than 30 days since I purchased it, and I couldn't just return the one item since I had bought it as part of a bundle. I was very disappointed and for sure won't be buying from them again. Their policies don't treat customers well. I think it's a shame and ridiculous that I had something with an obvious defect with REI's logo all over it and the REI store turned me away.
are you a member? I returned 2 pairs of shoes that were 11.5 months from the purchase date a cpl weeks ago. IF you are a member, you get 1 year to return anything. I have never had them say no. just my experience.

I'm not a member. I only bought the backpacking bundle from them online because it was on sale. It's the only thing I've ever purchased from them
