Go to the shelter and adopt the dog that most wants to go home with you.
Irish Wolfhound. Meets all your criteria and big enough to kill and bring back deer on its own.

My first dog was a Golden. I thought I was the friggin dog whisperer. That dog would do anything I said. Of course it turns out they are just that trainable. They just love to please their handlers. Great with kids, loyal, just great dogs. Don't tell Laufen but he has his facts wrong again. The Golden Retriever is actually the best dog in the world. My other dogs have been mutts and have been awesome as well so I am a mutt fan as well.
I cast another vote for a rescue dog. In my life I've had 4 dogs, 2 from breeders and 2 for the pound and by far the pound pups were the best dogs. The current family dog is a Olde English bulldog that came from the pound and you couldn't ask for a better pet. Wouldn't quite fit your needs cause I can assure you she isn't the extremely active type that wants to play. It's an awesome day when you take your kids though all the dogs at the shelter and to pick one out. Our shelter has them spayed/neutered and UTD on all shots, so there's no need to run them to the vet as soon as you pick them up and drop that kind of cash right off the bat.
Got my Lab from the pound years ago; someone had abused/neglected her. She turned out to be the finest dog anyone could ask for. She has grown old, and her health is fading. She is as sweet as ever, and fortunately she has Dad trained to bring her treats, keep the water bowl full, and not throw her ball too far when it is playtime.
aggression in dogs can be bred like any other trait. pitbulls were originally bred as family dogs. if you get one from a reputable breeder who knows the family lineage, i wouldnt hesitate to own a pit.
I went to the shelter, they even paid for the vaccinations and spaying. It felt good saving money but even better saving a life that was thrown away!
