Go to the pound and find you a collie or shepherd mix. They are he best and brightest. The reason they are the best is because they have a little bit of the best of everything in them.

I am surprised at the number of people who would allow a dog of unknown breeding around small children. I wouldn't let any dog that size on my place unless I had confidence in the breeding.

My first dog was an American Eskimo
Very playful and good wih kids

Our current dog is a 3 legged mutt we got at Homeless Pets

It was nice to get a dog that was already housebroken
And already would follow basic commands

The best dog I ever had was half Chow and half Husky. Great with the kids and also smart enough to know who belongs and who does not.

I don't have to sit around watching dogs hump each other and be certain of where the dogs come from to recognize good manners that are acceptable around children.
