Best place to buy food storage?

any kind of grab and go food from anywhere, including wise does not contain enough calories in 2-3 servings a day to sustain you.wise is one of the better ones but you have to eat about 6 servings a day to get to 2000 calories...and that is the key with all food supplies, pay attention to calories....just because efoods says their 300 serving bucket is enough food for 3 months doesn't mean you can live on 400 calories a day....chris, what prices do you feel are high? you've said that before without being specific...

dondon48 - I'm in there all the time, so obviously your overall prices are fair. Otherwise I wouldn't be stopping by once a week.

To be specific, I struggle with your prices on the #10 cans of freezedried/dehydrated foods. We can get lower prices on the #10 cans of powdered milk (your price of $22ish vs. $15.50) , blueberries ($50+ per can is your price vs. $27.50 at EE if I remember correctly), fruits, meats (turkey, chicken), etc. So we've resorted to ordering online for those items from Emergency Essentials. The quantities we're ordering can be substantial, so the savings adds up. I think you'd do a lot more business on those #10 cans if you expanded your lineup to include other brands and dropped the price. True, you can't match a large web warehouse, but maybe you can get close.

To be fair, I have purchased 3-4 #10 cans of items on impulse buys at your location - powdered milk and corn chowder for instance. Just because we like supporting local businesses and the price differential isn't all THAT bad on a few of those #10 cans.

Otherwise, I'm happy with the prices y'all charge on most other items. Those AR mags were a great deal, and your Mountain House 2 serving packages are also a very fair value. You also stock DIY food prep items like Mylar bags, O2 absorbers, buckets, etc.

there are some things we can't compete on...those blueberries are a good example, provident pantry is a proprietary brand of ee and we can not get them (i tried)...we aren't in a position yet to have our own brand so we have to purchase through another company and alpine aire happens to have good stuff...i just wanted you to clear that up because i work extremely hard to be competitive and the statements you had made before left the impression our prices aren't all that great...thank you for continuing to shop with us and we will continue to work hard to give you reasons to keep coming back :)

Be sure you can eat Wise foods.
It gives me bubble guts.

I had to go with Mountain House

BIOSHOCK is right. Some people do get bubble guts from WISE foods. The problem is many of these companies load their foods with sodium and MSGs. I advise buying a small amount of these freeze dried/dehydrated foods to see if your allergic or if it gives you the BuBbUle GuTs!!! You don't want to find out in a survival situation because it can lead to dehydration. If your just looking for bulk long term foods or MRES, feel free to check us out. Keep Prepping!!

yes, we are just past the coke plant on 41....wise doesn't have animal fat or animal protein in it,all of the protein comes from soy and beans so some people have digestive issues with that....also, as with most of the grab and go type food, there is a lot of pasta and msg and other stuff that irritates the digestion of people with wheat allergies....there are alternatives and i'm happy to discuss individual needs :)

Saw on SAMS club website a couple days ago a years supply of emergency survival food for four for 3000-3200.
Didn't read all that close about what kind etc but it might be worth looking into.

The Sams club is selling Augason Farms http://www.augasonfarms.com

It is actually less expensive at Sams Club than from them directly plus Sams Club includes free shipping by Fed Ex to your home! A package for 4 for one year ($3100) weighs nearly 1500 lbs., 54 cases, six #10 cans/case.

IMHO, it is a great "starter package", much like insurance. You may never need it, but......
