i have looked them up and read on them just wanted some personal out looks on them
Black Talon is a hollow point round that was discontinued a few years back after they were used in a crime that gained notoriety and caused them to be labeled as killer rounds. The special properties that made them desirable have been surpassed by several newer, less stigmatized loads. By now the existing stock of Black Talons has become more collector item than sensible carry load. Check out the tables on this web site :

Black talons are still available, now they are just called Ranger Talons.
That said, they have been far surpassed in effectiveness by much of today's modern defense ammo.
Federal HST's and Gold Dot's come to mind.

They were the best available in their time. The modern Winchester Ranger and Winchester PDX1 bullets are far superior (and cheaper).
I have bought 2 boxes of 9mm Black Talons for collector purposes only. I will not shoot them unless I absolutely had no other choice but to load them and use them. Are they gonna be worth a ton of money in ten years probably not, but they are cool and something that I will pass on to my children.
for now their value is in the rareness. another great example of how the media has taken something and evilized it to the point of a ban.
