i can only imagine doing it if it was something i'd already want registered to me. for example i buy a very expensive firearm say 2k+ (and this is ****ing expensive as hell for me) then i would prefer to meet at an ffl and have it registered to myself that way if anything were to happen to it i could possible at least some paper trail showing it belonged to me or something along those lines
