Some cultures consider that an honorable way to die, "shaheeding" one's self in the name of something you've been made to believe in (God in this case). Beats "living" in prison and with a ruined life. IMO. Plenty of our boys have killed lots of innocent women and children. It is a consequence of war, any kind of war, no matter what you call it.
