Bucket List

The biggest secret to prairie dog hunting in SD is reservation land. Simply call up the reservation and speak with the tribal council. Written permission is required to hunt on the reservation, but offers HUGE tracts of land teaming with pd's. Look closely at the area south of Rapid City. We typically would just stay at a hole in the wall motel, as most of the day was spent on benches, or prone on the prairie. Bring lots of ammo, and loads of sunscreen and bottled water to the field. Think it gets hot in Georgia, guess what, it gets just as hot in SD, plus add 20-40mph wind...bring plenty of water or your day will get cut very short.

FYI, you will probably want to drive considering the amount of ammo you will be taking, and the fact that the only airport of any size near the region is...well there isn't one.

Don't get sucked into spending $150-200 a day when you can do it for $50/day. Just do some internet research, and make a couple calls...done.
