Using a table saw or circular saw and you will get hurt.
If that's the case then yes band saw or plank stretcher would be best for the jobGuys, I think some of you are not understanding what he wants. He wants the existing 5"x3" block split into two blocks that are 5"x3"; but only half as thick as the existing block. That's band saw work.
