Do you like beans in your canned chili?

SOMETIMES I get canned chili but it's strictly for chili dog night. Still ain't found one I actually like. So I use a can with beans and a can of dedicated chili dog chili sauce. And I still haven't gotten anywhere close to Nu Way good.
I think part of the key to Nu Way chili dogs is those red dye hot dogs that I can't find in any store. When I was growing up we used to get a brand called CV Weiners that were very close to the Nu Way weiners but I ain't seen them or even the brand name in decades. But on the up side they were probably taking years off my life anyway so...
Have you tried the red bar s hotdogs?
I've never eaten them but they are what we use for catfish.

Where can you get Hatch chilis? Order them? I’ve never seen them in any store?
Hatch chlle is grown in southern New Mexico and is harvested about Labor Day annually. I spent about 3 years in Albuquerque and that stuff is glorious. They sell large packs of roasted and diced, the frozen green chile in all the grocery stores in NM, whether they ship is unknown.

The grocery store there have big propane fired roasters outside, you buy a bushel of fresh chile, and they roast it while you wait. The aroma coming off that stuff will make your mouth water. the oils and juices sizzle and pop while roasting and are divine.

But contact the store, The Chile Addict in ALB, they will know for sure.

Sounds like a ringing endorsement to me.
They should use that in commercials.

I don't believe you! If this were true you'd have posted "I only eat chili con carne sans haricots that is imported from "Fronce." Gotta get that nasal inflection in there to establish your upper class superiority.

Hatch season is August/September. They're from AZ and New Mexico. I always look in the produce section of Publix/Kroger, but Whole Foods always has them. You're probably not gonna see them in a Piggly Wiggly or Food Lion :-) They look like giant Anaheim peppers.

You can also order them fresh or dried (get fresh) from:

This site also has a ton of related products and recipes. Just last night I grilled the last of my stash while I made a steak for dinner. They have been peeled, seeded, vac sealed and frozen for chili when the weather turns.

Ever tried Skyline chili? That and a big fistful of finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese on a hotdog? :hungry:
That's some pricey canned chili. I think it was Wolf brand we tried a few years ago that was pretty decent . The wife had coupons for it otherwise we wouldn't have spent that kinda money on canned chili. Last week I was in Kroger and saw that now they have Wendy's chili in the can. But Wendy's chili ain't all that good to begin with. Well... it's better than Krystal chili but then most chill is better than Krystal chili.
