car insurance

geico upped my 6 month payment by about 90 bucks, claimed it was because equity in the state went up and liability exposure and blah blah blah

i told them that my risk has gone down if anything, since i havent caused an accident or gotten a ticket in over 10 years, plus the fact that my vehicles are not expensive and have depreciated a bit since the last payment

so they say "well, you can get a 45 dollar reduction if you take an online safety course, and it only costs 19.95"

i told them i felt insulted, and that an online safety course for safe driving is a stupid ****ing idea in every sense of it being a stupid ****ing idea, especially if i would have to pay for it

so o told them to jack off in the woods and i am now shopping for new insurance carrier

besides usaa, who else would yall recommend?

We have had Allstate for about 4 or 5 years and they just jacked my car insurance up by 26%.... So, I switched to Gieco yesterday....now after seeing this, I may have ****ed myself!! BUT, DON'T GO TO ALLSTATE! AND they gave me the same blah blah about an online course...

USAA

Got a new roof from 'em!

Oh, and has anyone mentioned the yearly "Subscribers Savings Account" check that you get back every year?

I've had 'em since 1988 and I think I didn't get a check back once, during one of the bad hurricane years.

Funny how one guy says a company is good, and another says it's bad. For me, State Farm sucks. Had a lot of stuff insured with them for 34 years. Lived through an F3 tornado, that tore our world upside down. It took them 19 days to get someone there. Then, they didn't want to pay for damage to stuff that was covered. The whole ordeal set us back about $20,000.

Switched everything to Nationwide and didn't look back. We saved a lot of money and have MUCH better service.

Get a new car they said. The insurance will be cheaper they said. Or something like that. I went from paying $450/6mo to $975/6mo going from my '90 Accord to a '13 Accord. Yes the car would cost more to replace in the event of an accident but good golly. I've been with SF for 15 years. I've got my house, truck, car and bike with them. Maybe I'm just cheap but almost $2k/yr for insurance seems like a ton. I'm in the process of trying to find a local broker to shop around for me.
