I love cats. Had them my whole life. They are extremely intelligent and probably the lowest maintenance pet that you could have. Keep the litter box clean and you shouldn't have any issues with them being housebroken. I've never had to litter train a cat and I'm not sure if it's even possible. They just seem to know instinctively what the litter box is for.

A lot of it depends on how young they are when you get them. Cats tend to bond with one person in particular and will be extremely affectionate to them. They can tolerate other people but they will always have their favorite person.
